What is it?

Dump cake is like a cobbler. Okay, it is a cobbler which is one of the easiest, crowd-pleasing desserts to assemble.

Dump cake is a classic combination of fruit and cake batter, and (often but not always) butter. You can make the cake batter from scratch or pull out your favorite box cake mix. It’s a great recipe for kids because they don’t have to measure ingredients and, in summer, there’s an abundance of fresh berries that usually don’t require much cutting.
